Lama Lakshey Zangpo was born in Tibet and completed intensive traditional training of Tibetan Buddhism in the great monasteries of Tibet. As a disciple of the renowned Tibetan Buddhist master, Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche, Lama Lakshey Zangpo Rinpoche has devoted his life to teaching the Buddhist Dharma to his sangha of students in the west and has connected them to the inspiring life, legacy, and blessings of the incomparable Jiigme Phuntsok Rinpoche.
Under the umbrella of Tsinta Mani Choling Lama Lakshey Zangpo continues to regularly teach Buddhist philosophy, ritual, prayer, meditation, Tibetan yoga, lead retreats, and lovingly guide his western sanghas in Aptos, Eugene, Oahu, Santa Cruz, and Spokane, as well as remotely online.
Although Rinpoche’s lineage is Nyingma, with emphasis on Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche), because of the non-sectarian (Rime) nature of Jigme Phuntsok’s curriculum at Lharung Gar in Tibet (where Lakshey Zangpo studied and practiced extensively), his extremely well rounded Buddhist training contains elements and teachings from the Nyingma, Kagyu, Sakya, Gelug, and Jonang sects. Lama Lakshey Zangpo teaches with genuine loving compassion and care for his students, with authentic altruism, humor, and psychological wisdom.
Lama Lakshey Zangpo was born in eastern Tibet and entered Mardo Tashi Choling monastery at the age of ten. Later, he attended Larung Gar Institute in Tibet and studied buddhist philosophy and meditation for a decade with H.H. Jigme Phuntsok. Lama Lakshey was recognized at a young age as a Tulku, and was later enthroned by H.H. Katok Getse Rinpoche. H.H. Katok Getse Rinpoche was the seventh head of the Nyigma tradition. Lama Lakshey has taught in the U.S. and Canada for the last 15 years. He provides instruction on buddhist meditation and eastern psychology to dharma practitioners, university students and faculty, medical communities, and tech corporations. Lama Lakshey is the spiritual advisor of Tsinta Mani Choling, and has served on the Board of Directors of Joru Foundation. Lama Lakshey currently resides in the SF Bay Area.
